Hayden Panettiere will lead a rally against a resumption of commercial whaling at 1 p.m. this Sunday, January 27, in Washington, D.C.’s Dupont Circle. The event kicks off a whirlwind trip to the Nation’s Capital for Hayden, who will later speak with policymakers and students to encourage increased whale protection.
The 18-year-old Heroes star is a spokesperson for the Save the Whales Again! campaign, which is calling on the United States to stand up for whales at the International Whaling Commission and take diplomatic and economic action against whaling countries. After the rally, she will speak at Georgetown University. On Monday, she will meet with representatives from the embassies of Japan, Norway and Iceland to question their outdated whaling practices.
“Whales face increasing threats from climate change, ship strikes, entanglement in nets, and chemical and noise pollution, yet Japan, Norway and Iceland continue to kill them in increasing numbers,” Hayden said. “I am looking forward to talking with officials who actually make and carry out our policies, as well as fellow young people who will be voting in the upcoming election—I want our voice to be heard.”
On Tuesday, Hayden will speak at a 1 p.m. press conference hosted by House of Representatives Natural Resources Committee Chair Nick Rahall (D-WV). She will be joined by Rahall and Senator John Kerry (D-MA) in urging the US Government to reinstate its former leadership role protecting whales from commercial slaughter. An evening reception with Members of Congress and their staff is the final stop on her trip.

Hayden continued to wear her support for the Save the Whales Again! campaign by wearing a gold Save the Whales! pendant on her necklace. She just returned from Washington DC after attending a rally to support the cause.
As for her politics, Hayden has been talking to parties from both sides of the fence.
“You know, I haven’t really picked who I’m going to support yet,” she told E!. I have spoken to Barack about the whales and the situation going on there, and I asked him his views on it, and he grew up in Hawaii. He’s got a very wonderful outlook on it. Hopefully later on, [I’m] having a phone call with the McCain party and also in the midst of contacting the Clinton party. I’ll hopefully be hearing from them on the whole situation and what they’re willing to do to stop it.”

Heroes star Hayden Panettiere was honored Saturday night to receive the Gretchen Wyler Award, for protesting the annual dolphin slaughter in Southwestern Japan last year from the Humane Society. The activism award is given annually at the Genesis Awards to a celebrity who brings attention to animal causes. Beverly Kaskey, Senior Director of the Humane Society’s Hollywood Office said Hayden Panettiere is “an inspiring example to her generation, using her compassion, courage and celebrity to help animals in a very effective way.”

The X-Files: Gillian Anderson Pregnant
X-Files star Gillian Anderson is expecting her second child with boyfriend Mark Griffiths, People reports.
Gillian, 39, gave birth to Oscar, the couple’s first child, in November 2006.
She also has a 13-year-old daughter, Piper, from a previous marriage.
The X-Files: I Want to Believe, has finished up shooting and is set to be released in July. Gillian reprises her role as Dana Scully and David Duchovny as Fox Mulder.
It is the second feature film based on the TV series The X-Files, and follows the 1998 film.

Fergie, 32, wants to educate her fan base, which largely consists of teens and young adults.
“[MAC is] going toward one demographic, and I think I can be very helpful with that,” Fergie added. “I know certain people who are very proud of having unprotected sex and the fact that they haven’t caught anything yet.”

When asked if the image of Eva’s two visits to rehab in February at the Utah-based Cirque Clinic, Tom Murry, president and chief operating officer of Calvin Klein Inc., said, “No, it has not. We were already in one [fragrance] campaign when it [rehab] occurred and it did not affect our decision-making for the underwear campaign.”
“She really embodies the essence of the Calvin Klein brand and we look forward to seeing that carried through in the creative,” added Murry. “We are trying to get across that these new products are for fuller busted, shaplier kinds of women and when we looked at the talent, Eva was right.”

Eva Mendes (born March 5, 1974) is an American actress. She began acting in the late 1990s, and became known after a series of roles in several major Hollywood films, including 2 Fast 2 Furious and Hitch.
Mendes was born in Miami, Florida to Cuban-American parents and was raised in Los Angeles by her mother after her parents' divorce; Mendes has said that her mother "suffered so much to make my life OK" during her early years. Her father is a car salesman and her mother, Eva, is now an elementary school principal. She had a Catholic upbringing and aspired to be a nun. As a child, Mendes was teased about her "buck teeth". She went to Hoover High School in Glendale, California and later attended California State University, Northridge to study Marketing but dropped out after meeting boyfriend Zedrick Threatt, who helped her to seek an acting career. Mendes, despite resisting offers from Playboy, appeared naked in Flaunt Magazine. Although her breasts weren't exposed, readers did get to see her bare back and buttocks. Mendes said about the shoot, "I actually did a little nude shot. You won't see anything. I was covering myself... but I love Flaunt. I think their artwork is some of the best artwork out there as far as photography is concerned, so I took it off....I felt really comfortable. It was fun. There's something really liberating about it."
Mendes is a spokesmodel for the 2008 Calendar of Campari, inspired in fairy tales, by photographer Marino Parisotto.
In December 2007, Mendes posed nude for the anti-fur campaign of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) alongside the tagline "Fur? I'd rather go naked."
In her interview with PETA, Eva said, "I want people to know that there are options — that killing a poor animal and wearing it isn't cool ... respecting all life forms is cool."
